Importance of bathing – On the day of Makar Sankranti, one should take bath by adding sesame seeds in water in the morning during Brahma Muhurta. This purifies both body and mind and keeps negativity away. Women’s mental stress is relieved.
What color clothes – Wear orange or yellow colored clothes on the day of Makar Sankranti. Wearing yellow clothes gives confidence and positive energy, which increases concentration and drives away negative thoughts.
Worship of Sun but no water to Tulsi – First of all offer water to Sun God. Take water in a copper pot, add roli, rice, flowers, jaggery and offer Arghya. This provides health. It is important for women to remain healthy not only for themselves but for the welfare of the entire family. This day is Ekadashi, hence do not offer water to Tulsi.
What to make – Clean the kitchen thoroughly, then first make sweets from jaggery and sesame and offer it to God. This time it is Ekadashi on Makar Sankranti, hence do not make rice khichdi.
Donation – Donate sesame, wheat, millet and jaggery. It is Ekadashi so do not donate rice.
wedding material – Donate wedding material to 14 married women by applying turmeric and kumkum on them. It is believed that this gives the blessing of continuous good fortune.
