Woman kills husband for insurance money in Khammam; five arrested

Hyderabad: A woman and four other people were arrested by Khammam Police after they murdered her husband to claim insurance money, Tv9 Telugu reported.

The police found the victim’s body at Khammam-Kuravi main road near MV Palem and later identified the body as Chaganti Ravi, 42, an auto driver, a resident of Gandhi Nagar, Khammam.

Rs 66 lakh insurance in Ravi’s name:

Ravi was married to Prashanti for 20 years and had two children. However, he became addicted to alcohol and later fell sick. With the help of her cousin Srinivas, she got an insurance policy in Ravi’s name for Rs. 66 lakhs in July last year.

Pre-empting that her husband would eventually die, she killed him with the help of her cousin Srinivas, Jogi Rajkumar, Jogi Venkatesh, and Jogi Rambabu, the police said.

They forced him to drink alcohol on March 2 and dropped him off on the outskirts of MV Palem. When he stood on the road, Prashanti’s associate Raj Kumar rammed him at a high speed and killed him. They planned to make it look like a road accident.

After his death, his relatives suspected Prashanti’s hand in the murder and lodged a complaint with the police. Five people, including Prashanti have been arrested.

Two people die of electrocution:

Two people died of electrocution in Madaripet, Dandepalli mandal, Mancherial district. Lakshminarayana of Madaripet village and Nagaraju of Kazipet village came into contact with electric wires, leading to their death.
