In the winter session, parties of India Bloc (Congress, TMC, SP, DMK, RJD and others) can bring impeachment motion against Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar. This decision was taken after a meeting held at the house of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge. On August 7, Rahul Gandhi accused the Election Commission of vote theft. In response, CEC Gyanesh Kumar had said, ‘Either Rahul should give an affidavit on this allegation or apologize to the country.’ From here the matter heated up and now preparations are on to bring it in Parliament.

How was the monsoon session?

The monsoon session, which ran from July 21 to August 21, was full of controversies. The reason for this was SIR (Special Intensive Revision) in Bihar. There was huge opposition from the opposition on this issue. There was a plan for discussion in the Lok Sabha for 120 hours, but only 37 hours of work could be done. The discussion could go on in the Rajya Sabha only for 41 hours. Then a total of 27 bills were passed in both the houses. The most discussed issue was the Constitution Amendment Bill, under which the system for removing the arrested Prime Minister and Chief Minister from the post was discussed. The proposal to send this bill to JPC (Joint Parliamentary Committee) was also passed.
