Winter Baby Skin Care: Baby’s skin will not crack, doctor told to protect it in 5 ways

Winter Baby Skin Care: Children’s skin starts becoming dry quickly in winter. In such a situation, it is very important to take care of them. Here we will learn from the doctor how we can take care of baby’s skin in winter.

Baby Skin Care Routine: As soon as winter arrives, its effect on children’s skin becomes clearly visible. The number of children whose skin becomes dry, rough and cracked also increases in OPD. Sometimes this dryness also causes pain and irritation. In such a situation, the biggest challenge for parents is how to keep children’s skin soft, moisturized and healthy in winter? On this topic, Pediatrician Dr. Nimisha told 5 ways to take care of children’s skin in this season.

While making a video on this subject on her Instagram baby_doc_mom account, Dr. Nimisha, working in MRCPCH (UK), said that the baby’s skin loses moisture very quickly in winter, hence proper daily skincare is very important. With a little extra care, children’s skin can remain soft and safe throughout the season.

According to Dr. Nimisha Arora – Take special care of children’s skin in winters like this

Massage your baby before bathing

Massage the baby with coconut oil before bathing. Massage the entire body and hair 20 minutes before. Do not use mustard oil.

Lukewarm Baths

Very hot water removes the natural oils of the skin, which further increases dryness. Therefore always use lukewarm water. Do not bathe the baby for more than 5 minutes. Bathe a baby younger than 3 months with lukewarm water every second or third day and use a sponge the rest of the days. A child older than this can be bathed every day. Hygiene is also very important in winter.

Choose a gentle and fragrance-free wash

Fragrances and chemicals present in face wash or soap make children’s skin more dry. Therefore, use fragrance-free, gentle and mild shampoo and cleanser for the child.

Apply thick moisturizer within 3 minutes of bathing

This is called the “3-minute rule”. After showering, moisture gets trapped in the skin, so apply a thick moisturizer immediately. This keeps the skin hydrated throughout the day. If the skin starts feeling dry after a few hours, then apply moisturizer again.

Do not allow direct contact with room heater

The child should not be placed directly in front of the hitter. This also makes the skin dry. If you are running a heater, then keep a humidifier in the room as well. This keeps the air moist, due to which the children’s skin does not become dry.
