New Delhi: Marin Cilic fell short in the quarterfinal clash against Flavio Cobollli at the All-English Club. The Italian hold his nerve in his toughest test so far at Sw19 to seal a 6-4, 6-4, 6-7 (4-7) and 7-6 (7-3) victory.
The 23-year-old showed extreme composure beyond his age to triumph in four sets against the former US Open champion. Cobolli controlled the match with his solid groundstrokes and court craft to close out the match in just under three and a half hours.

For Cilic, this may have been his last appearance at Wimbledon. After years of injuries, the Croatian showed grit to make it to another final and played some great tennis in his run, including a second-round win over Jack Draper, but couldn’t find a way past the relentless Cobolli.
Bencic Breaks new ground at SW19
In the women’s draw, Switzerland’s Belinda Bencic has advanced to her maiden Wimbledon quarterfinal after a confident straight-set triumph over Ekaterina Alexandrova. The 28-year-old defeated Alexandrove by a scoreline of 7-6 (7-4), 6-4, keeping her cool under pressure.
Bencic, who won the Abu Dhabi Open just 10 months after giving birth, has found a way to balance the demands of motherhood with elite competition, often travelling to tournaments with her child and embracing the family memories along the way.
The Swiss star started off pretty strong building up a quick lead of 4-1 before Alexandrova pushed her back to force a tiebreak which Bencic won with composure. The second set seemed a tight affair before Benfica broke at 4-3. She then secured another break to seal the victory.
What a moment ✨

“This was a really important step for me,” Bencic shared after the match, adding how special it has been to share these moments as a family while competing at the highest level.
Bencic will now face either Mirra Andreeva for a place in the semi-finals, carrying the momentum of a career-first Wimbledon quarter-final and the confidence of a mother who has found her groove back on court.
