New Delhi: World No.1 Aryna Sabalenka is through to the semifinals as she came from one set down to seal the victory. The Belarusian defeated Laura Siegemund in two hours and 54 minutes by a scoreline of 4-6, 6-2 and 6-4.
Sabalenka has managed to survive the toughest test so far to advance to her third Wimbledon semifinal. This was the third-longest match of this year’s Championships.
Aryna Sabalenka has now reached at least the semifinals in 10 of her last 11 Grand Slam tournaments since the 2022 US Open. The only time she fell short of the last four during this stretch was at Roland Garros in 2024, where she exited in the quarterfinals after a loss to Mirra Andreeva.

This latest run also marks Sabalenka’s ninth semifinal appearance on tour in 2025, the most by any player this season, putting her ahead of Iga Swiatek, who sits in second with six.
After match Sabalenka said, Honestly I need some time to cool down and recover. She pushed me so much. After the first set I was looking at my box thinking: ‘Book my tickets, we’re about to leave this beautiful tournament.’ The atmosphere was another level. You don’t understand how much you helped me to keep fighting. I wouldn’t call her game annoying, as she plays so smart.
After finishing as the runner-up at both the Australian Open and Roland Garros earlier this year, Aryna Sabalenka will look to book her spot in a third Grand Slam final of the season when she faces either 13th seed Amanda Anisimova or Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova next. The last player to make the finals of the year’s first three majors was Serena Williams back in 2016.
