IND vs PAK Match, T20 World Cup 2026: The controversy that started regarding the India-Pakistan match in the T20 World Cup 2026 now seems to be reaching its final point. Actually, after the meeting between Pakistan Cricket Board and International Cricket Council, this matter has now reached Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, from where the final approval is awaited. Let us tell you, a meeting of ICC, PCB and BCB was held in Lahore on Sunday. In the meeting, PCB has indicated to reconsider its position. Now PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi is going to meet Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, where a final decision on this issue is likely to be taken. However, amid all this, Pakistan and Bangladesh have also placed a big demand before the ICC.
Pakistan-Bangladesh demanded tri series
Citing the Member Participation Agreement and the hybrid hosting agreement signed in December 2024, the ICC has expressed hope of playing the match with Pakistan. However, the Pakistan Cricket Board has also placed some demands before the ICC in exchange for this match. According to reports, Pakistan Cricket Board wants the resumption of bilateral series with India not only for Pakistan but also for Bangladesh. Apart from this, PCB and BCB have demanded a tri-series between India and themselves.
ICC will not accept this demand of Pakistan
It is not clear how many demands of Pakistan Cricket Board and Bangladesh Cricket Board were accepted, but ICC cannot guarantee bilateral and tri-series involving India. This authority lies with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), which works under the Government of India. On the other hand, India and Bangladesh have to play a series in September, for which Team India has to tour Bangladesh, but this series also looks difficult.
Let us tell you, this controversy is related to the group match against India in the 2026 T20 World Cup to be held in Colombo on February 15. Pakistan had earlier announced that it would not participate in this match, due to which there was uncertainty in the preparations and fans of the tournament. This decision was taken as a show of solidarity with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), as the BCB had refused to play matches in India and the ICC had expelled them from the tournament.
