The Government of India is following the policy that the Bilateral Sports event with Pakistan is not to be included. The Sports Ministry has said that Team India will not go to Pakistan. India will not host Pakistani teams in bilateral series. However, this ban will not apply to multilateral tournaments such as World Cup and Olympics. These tournaments are held at neutral or third party locations. It does not cause any direct bilateral arrangements. There is a politically neutral atmosphere for sports.

According to the report of India Today, a source in the Sports Ministry has said that India will not be prevented from playing against Pakistan in the Asia Cup. It is organized by the Asian Cricket Council. The Asia Cup will have matches between India and Pakistan in Dubai on 14 and possibly 21 September. The final will be held on 29 September. The tournament will be played in the T20 International format. The next year is to be the T20 World Cup.
