According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), AQI 431 was recorded at 4 pm on December 13, which falls in the very severe category. According to experts, breathing this level of air can be extremely dangerous for health, especially for children, elderly and sick people.

What restrictions were imposed under GRAP-4?

CAQM’s GRAP sub-committee has decided that now all the rules of GRAP-III as well as the strict measures of GRAP-IV will be implemented. Under this, all work related to construction and demolition will be completely stopped, non-essential commercial activities will be banned, there will be strictness on the entry of diesel-powered trucks and heavy vehicles, options like work-from-home will be considered in government and private offices. The purpose of these steps is to prevent the level of pollution from increasing further.

Will schools remain closed in Delhi or not?

This question is in the minds of most people. CAQM has already ordered to implement hybrid mode i.e. online and offline for students up to class 5 under GRAP-III. According to the order, education up to class 5 will be in hybrid mode in Gurugram, Faridabad, Ghaziabad and Gautam Buddha Nagar of Delhi and NCR. After the implementation of GRAP-IV, the government has got the right to take more strict decisions. Under this, physical classes from class 6 to 9 can be stopped. Studies of class 11 and above can be done in online mode. If necessary, colleges and other educational institutions can also be closed temporarily. However, no official announcement has been made yet by Delhi government and private schools. Final confirmation is awaited from their side.
