Will PM Modi’s OBC card bring results in Bihar elections? Called himself a son of a backward class!

PM Modi started his first rally for the assembly elections 2025 in Samastipur. In the speech he recalled Karpoori Thakur’s blessings for the backward classes and the poor and highlighted the development and social justice agenda of the NDA government.

Now the temperature of politics has started rising rapidly in Bihar Assembly elections 2025. On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi not only trumpeted the NDA’s campaign in his first public meeting in Samastipur but also gave a direct challenge to the opposition by playing the OBC card. At the very beginning of the speech, PM Modi described himself, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Union Minister Ramnath Thakur as “born from the backward class” and said that it is the blessings of Jananayak Karpoori Thakur that today they all are standing on this stage.

Salute to Karpoori Thakur, Modi’s emphasis on ‘poor and backward’

Prime Minister Modi said, “I got the opportunity to go to Karpoori village and pay my respects to Bharat Ratna Jannayak Karpoori Thakur. It is his blessings that people like me, Nitish Kumar, Ramnath Thakur, coming from poor and backward families, are able to serve the country today. We are working towards realizing the dream of Karpoori Thakur of connecting the deprived with the mainstream.” He further said that “Our government Karpuri She considers Babu as a source of inspiration. “Preference for the deprived, priority for the backward and service to the poor – this is the basis of our governance.”

Service to the poor is social justice, PM Modi

Modi told the stage that schemes like providing permanent houses to the poor, free ration, toilets, tap water and free treatment are the true definition of social justice. “The NDA government has worked to bring dignity in the lives of the poor, Dalits, Mahadalits, backward and backward classes. It is our government that has given 10 per cent reservation to the general category poor as well,” the PM said.

‘Constitutional status to OBC Commission’ Modi counted achievements

The Prime Minister said that fulfilling the demand pending for decades, the NDA government gave constitutional status to the OBC Commission. Taking a dig at the opposition, he said that under the rule of those who call for the Constitution, the backward people did not even get their rights. “We are the ones who implemented reservation in medical education for backward classes and took a big step towards teaching in the mother tongue,” he said.

‘RJD-Congress only speak, NDA works’

Taking a dig at the opposition, PM Modi said, “People of RJD and Congress only make promises, whereas the NDA government has worked on the ground to take both development and social justice together. The people of Bihar know that good governance and stability is possible only with the NDA.”

In this rally in Samastipur, the Prime Minister also mentioned the Chhath festival and said that the soil, tradition and culture of Bihar has always been the inspiration for the development of the country. The crowd gathered at the public meeting made one thing clear – the mood of Bihar is set, and the public has made up its mind – “Once again NDA government.”
