The Uttar Pradesh government is planning to make West UP a big hub on the basis of Jewar Airport. For this, the government is preparing to build a food park near Yamuna Expressway i.e. Jewar Airport. Patanjali can be of great help to the government in preparing this mega project. According to the information, Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YIDA) has prepared a proposal to form a partnership between Patanjali and Innova Food Park, Kolar, Karnataka. So that an agricultural export center can be established near Jewar International Airport. The authority has proposed to sub-lease 50 acres of the food park land allotted to Patanjali in Sector 24A to Land Innova.
YIDA gave this offer to Patanjali
According to the information given by Shailendra Bhatia, Special Executive Officer of YIDA, YIDA has discussed this proposal with Patanjali and the company’s stand has not been decided yet. The authority has contacted Patanjali. Patanjali already has a large plot allotted to it in Sector 24A and has the right to sub-lease up to 20 per cent of its land as per the terms of its project. This land is located at a suitable location and is already earmarked for agri-processed activities. If Patanjali gives this land on sub-lease for the food park, it will also give a boost to their project.
Agricultural exports will get a boost
This proposal has already been approved by the Uttar Pradesh Cabinet. Also part of the World Bank and UP Agricultural Development and Rural Enterprise Ecosystem Strengthening Project. The project is designed to promote farm-to-market connectivity and agri export infra near Jewar Airport, a major logistics hub of the sector. However, no official statement has come from Patanjali yet.
The objective of this food park is to provide a state-of-the-art facility for testing, grading and packaging of agricultural and horticultural products for export. Being located approximately 10 kilometers from the airport’s cargo terminal, it will enable direct export of agricultural products to international markets including the Middle East, Europe and Russia, thereby reducing transit time and logistics costs.
Patanjali got the land in 2017
In 2017, the state government had allotted 430 acres of land to Patanjali Group in Sector 24 to develop a food and herbal park. Out of this, 300 acres of land was allotted to Patanjali Food and Herbal Park Noida Private Limited and 130 acres of land was allotted to Patanjali Ayurved Limited. If Patanjali agrees, the sub-lease of 50 acres will help Innova set up an agricultural export hub, directly linking the region’s agricultural produce to the global market. Also, West UP can be established as a major agro-export area.
