Will Mustafizur get money despite being out of IPL? (PC-PTI)
Mustafizur Rahman: Bangladesh’s left-arm fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman has been ruled out of IPL 2026. KKR had bought this player for a huge price of Rs 9.2 crores. The question is, will the KKR team, which suddenly dropped this bowler, compensate Mustafizur? Mustafizur himself is not out of IPL but he has been bought out, will he get some money for this? Let us tell you what are the rules of BCCI regarding IPL.
What will Mustafizur Rahman get?
Let us tell you that Bangladesh fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman is not likely to get any kind of compensation. However, he had no role in the reasons for his contract being terminated. BCCI has not even given the reason for his ouster but its move has sparked debate on player’s rights, especially because he has not withdrawn his name from the IPL on his own free will. Nor has he himself done any wrong due to which Mustafizur has been thrown out. However, despite this, Mustafizur will not get a single penny.
An IPL expert told PTI, ‘The money received by all IPL players is insured. In the case of international players, if they get injured after joining the camp or during the tournament, the franchise usually pays. However, Mustafizur’s case does not come under the general rules of insurance. Since he was not released from the team due to injury or any cricket-related reason related to his participation in the league, KKR is not obliged to pay him any money.
If Mustafizur adopted the legal path…
Mustafizur has no option but to adopt the legal route, but the problem here is that IPL comes under the ambit of Indian law. No foreign cricketer would want to go through such a situation or resort to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). BCB has also withdrawn Mustafizur’s NOC to participate in the IPL, which has further weakened his case. In the current situation, Mustafizur seems to be returning empty handed.
