The country’s legendary businessman Gautam Adani has bought his company to support Anil Ambani. Adani Power Limited, a company of Adani, bought Anil Ambani’s subsidiary Vidarbha Industries Power Limited for Rs 4,000 crore. Through the insolvency process, Adani Power has made a deal with a company with a 600 MW capacity.
A statement was issued by Adani Power Limited (APL) saying that on 18 June 2025, the Mumbai Bench of the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) has approved its resolution plan for Vidarbha Industries Power Limited. VIPL is a 600 MW domestic coal -based power plant located in Butibori in Nagpur district of Maharashtra. APL has bought this for Rs 4,000 crore and has implemented the Samadhan Yojana.
Capacity will be 30,670 MW by 2030
The company said that it is moving towards achieving a target of 30,670 MW capacity by 2029-30. The company has made it clear that its goal is to reach 30,670 MW production capacity by FY 202930. For this, she is doing construction work in many places. Adani Power is currently building 6 Brownfield Ultra Super Kritical Power Plants, whose capacity is 1,600 MW per plant. These plants are being built in Singrauli-Mahan (Madhya Pradesh), Raipur, Raigad and Korba (Chhattisgarh) and Kawai (Rajasthan).

How much is the capacity now
If we talk about the total operational captivity of Adani Power, then it has become 18,150 MW after this deal. Right now Adani Power Limited is the country’s largest private thermal power producing company. With this new acquisition, the Adani Group is expected to be stronger in the power sector.
