Story related to Rakshabandhan
Once the demon king Bali had made Lord Vishnu happy with his devotion and got the boon of being immortal from him. After which all the gods and goddesses got upset, because they were afraid that King Bali should not misuse this boon. After this, all the gods told their concern to Lord Vishnu.
Vishnu incarnated Vamana to break the pride of King Bali. He sought three steps from King Bali to donate land. King Bali obeyed him, then after that God made your size bigger. King Bali measured heaven with his first step and the earth with the second step. When there was no place to keep the third step, King Bali bowed his head in front of Vamana God.
Mata Lakshmi asked for her husband back
Lord Vishnu incarnated Vamana and asked for three steps from King Bali. King Bali understood that it is not a Vamana but Lord Vishnu, so he devoted his body to keep the third step. By giving the dedication of sacrifice, Lord Vishnu made King Bali the king of the Hades and at his behest, he himself started living in the Hades. When Mata Lakshya Lakshmi came to know about this, she became worried.
To bring Vishnu back, the mother took the form of a poor woman and went to the Hades and made King Bali tied a rakhi and made her brother. When King Bali asked for his wish from his mother, the mother asked her husband Lord Vishnu back. King Bali, while playing his word, returned Lord Vishnu to Vaikuntha. Since then, it is believed that on the day of Rakshabandhan, the sister should go to his brother’s house and tie a rakhi.
