Why Not Criticize Dead: Elders and elders have always said that no one should say bad things about a deceased person. This has been explained by renowned astrologer Dr. Basavaraj Guruji. According to Guruji, while talking about the deceased person it is not wrong to remember his qualities, good deeds and the help given by him. In fact, it is considered auspicious. However, it is customary to say that it is inauspicious to criticize, abuse or speak negatively about them. Be it our relatives, neighbors, anyone from the country or the world, one should not speak bad about anyone after death.
He said that talking negatively about dead persons has a negative impact on us, our mind, our behaviour, our planetary position and our auspicious results. There is a clear description of this in Manusmriti. Even if the dead person is not physically present with us, when we take their name or see their picture, a kind of ‘Wi-Fi’ connection is established in our mind. When we criticize them, our already distressing sins and karmas increase. Due to this, our divine power itself decreases and virtues decrease and sins start increasing. Due to this we have to face many difficulties in life.
It is auspicious to talk positively about a dead person.
Guruji further said that one of the important lessons that Yudhishthir received from Bhishma was that one should not speak bad words about a dead person or insult them. It is said that doing so can bring calamities to the lineage and family. There is clear mention of this in Hindu scriptures also. It is considered auspicious to talk positively about the deceased, especially at specific times such as sunrise, sunset, noon, or at home, in a temple, or while traveling.
speaking wrong can have bad effects
The dead person gets absorbed into the five elements. Since the five elements are present everywhere in the world, we should not criticize anyone after death. Such negative words can have an immediate bad effect on us. These may manifest in the form of health problems, financial difficulties, insults, sudden changes or accidents. Many times it is believed that such accidents happen when we speak ill about a dead person. Guruji advises that even if he has given us trouble, it is better to give up the tendency to speak ill of him after his death.
