Indian-American soldier Shilpa Chaudhary raised questions on the protests in India over the death of the Iranian leader. He said such demonstrations disrupt normal life and harm the country’s international image.
Recently, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed in a joint attack by America and Israel. After this, Iran launched a strong counterattack on America and Israel. This attack, which took place amid peace talks, was criticized all over the world and its impact was seen in India as well. Videos of protests by Shia Muslim community in India went viral on social media. Meanwhile, a video of Shilpa Chaudhary, an American soldier of Indian origin, went viral, in which she has raised questions on the protests taking place in India. Shilpa Choudhary said that such protests not only create problems in the lives of common people but also tarnish the country’s image in the world.
‘Demonstrations impacting normal life’
Shilpa is quite famous on social media because she joined the US Army at the age of 38. She is a mother of three and a Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) specialist in the US Army. In a video posted in US Army uniform, Shilpa said that the country can become a laughing stock in the world due to the protests in India over the death of Iranian leader Khamenei. He acknowledged that the religious sentiments of many people in India have been hurt, but he questioned the purpose of such protests which bring the lives of common people to a halt.
Shilpa clarified that she is not anti-Muslim, but is against fundamentalism of any religion, be it Hindu or Muslim. He said that his concern is about what effect these demonstrations will have on India’s international image. He raised the question why action is being demanded from the state governments for an incident that happened thousands of miles away? Shilpa said, “India is viewed with great respect all over the world and we should not let this respect be broken. Love the country you live in.” This video of his has been viewed more than six and a half lakh times.

Another user asked, “Can we protest for the 165 children killed in Iran?” Some people also mentioned the protests against Trump in the US Senate. Some users reminded him that there is still freedom of speech in India. However, many people also praised Shilpa’s words and supported her views.
