Why is there no item song in Pawan Kalyan’s Ustaad Bhagat Singh?

Ustaad Bhagat Singh drops item song trend: The upcoming Telugu action entertainer Ustaad Bhagat Singh is already generating strong buzz ahead of its theatrical release. However, director Harish Shankar has revealed one surprising creative decision that has caught fans’ attention. The film will not feature a traditional item song.

The director recently addressed the topic while speaking about the film’s musical choices and the expectations surrounding the project. The movie marks another collaboration between Harish Shankar and its lead star, Pawan Kalyan, after their blockbuster hit Gabbar Singh.

Why the film avoids an item number?

According to Harish, the decision was made with the actor’s current political role in mind. Apart from being a major film star, Pawan Kalyan also serves as the Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, which influenced how certain scenes were designed.

Explaining the thought process, the director said, “Since our previous film Gabbar Singh was an industry hit, people have a lot of expectations from the combination. But there are responsibilities now because of his designation as Deputy CM.”

The filmmaker further clarified that while the movie will include lively music and energetic sequences, it won’t feature a typical item number. “Every song will be an item, but there won’t be an item song. I want to maintain the decorum of a Deputy CM. Now he can’t run behind an item girl and sing songs,” he said.

Dhurandhar: The Revenge vs Ustaad Bhagat Singh

Produced by Mythri Movie Makers, Ustaad Bhagat Singh will hit theatres on March 19, a week earlier than its previously announced March 26 release date. The film stars Sreeleela and Raashii Khanna alongside Pawan Kalyan. The ensemble cast and mass-action storyline have already raised expectations among fans.

Interestingly, the release will see a direct box-office clash with Dhurandhar: The Revenge, the action sequel directed by Aditya Dhar and starring Ranveer Singh.
