Why does fog suddenly increase in the morning? Questions raised due to increase in accidents on expressway

Due to fog, more than a dozen deaths occurred due to vehicle collision on Delhi-Mumbai and Delhi-Agra Expressway.

The fog is wreaking havoc. Is becoming the cause of deaths. Due to fog, 30 vehicles collided on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. At the same time, 13 deaths occurred when several buses and cars collided with each other on the Delhi-Agra Expressway. More than 25 people were injured. Fog starts in the evening but increases rapidly in the morning. Now the question is why the fog increases so rapidly in the morning that it becomes difficult to see.

First of all let us know why fog occurs. The temperature drops rapidly during the winter season. The ground cools rapidly at night. The air starts getting cold. In this season, water vapor rises up and comes in contact with the air. During this time it becomes heavy and starts freezing in the form of small drops. As winter progresses, it starts changing into smoke. It becomes denser and gradually becomes visible from a distance. This is fog.

Why is there more fog in the morning?

The fog starts increasing at night and becomes very thick from 5 to 7 in the morning. Experts say, this happens when the temperature reaches closest to the dew point. Dew point is also called dew point. This is a situation when when the air cools, the water vapor present in it starts changing into water droplets. If we understand in simple language, there is some moisture in the air and hot air holds more moisture. As the air becomes cold, its ability to hold moisture decreases. The result is the dew point at which the air becomes heavy and forms moisture.

Fog not only forms in the morning, but also usually dissipates early in the morning. After the sun rises, the ground starts heating up and the temperature gradually increases. When the temperature goes above the dew point and the fog dissipates.

What is the difference between dew, fog, mist and frost?

Dew: When the temperature falls at night, the ground and the surrounding area become cold. Air that comes in contact with a cold surface is unable to retain its moisture. It turns into water vapor i.e. water droplets. These drops freeze. They are visible on grass, crops and leaves in the morning. When the sun shines, they evaporate again.

Fog: The temperature drops rapidly during the winter season. This is fog.

haze: It is a layer of dust, smoke and very fine moisture particles present in the air, due to which the sky looks hazy. Things further away appear blurry. If the visibility limit is one kilometer or less then it is called fog or mist. Smoke emanating from vehicles, factories and stubble burning, dust flying in the air, slight moisture of particles all together form smog.

Frost: Frost is the condition when the air temperature drops to 0°C or below. The moisture or dew in the air freezes and forms a thin layer of ice. When it is very cold, the droplets do not remain in liquid form, they directly become ice. A layer of snow is visible on plants, grass and ground.
