As a result, they do not get enough sleep and they start feeling tired and weak the next day. If your condition is similar, then to remove your tension, Pediatrician Santosh Yadav has shared a video on his social media. In this video shared on Instagram, Dr. Santosh gives not just one but 5 scientific reasons behind children doing this. Let us know about them.
Why do children remove blankets while sleeping at night?
Pediatrician Santosh Yadav says that children’s body and their habits are quite different from those of adults, hence their sleeping pattern is also different.
Metabolic rate remains high
The body metabolism of children is higher than that of adults. Due to which they feel more hot. This is the reason why children start removing the blanket from themselves while sleeping at night to balance their body temperature.
Thermo-regulation is immature
Thermo-regulation (control of body temperature) is immature in newborns, as their skin, metabolism, and many other body functions are not fully developed. This means that they are not able to maintain a constant temperature and can easily suffer from hypothermia (body becoming too cold) or hyperthermia (body becoming too hot). In such a situation, as soon as they feel even slight heat after taking the blanket at night, they immediately remove it.
Not liking the fabric of the blanket
Blankets that are too heavy, rough or stiff can make babies uncomfortable. Children like soft, light things. If the blanket is too heavy, they feel trapped and throw it away immediately.
I don’t like being confined.
Some children like to sleep freely. By covering themselves with a blanket, they feel that something is restricting them, so they keep removing it continuously.
move more
Small children keep roaming all over the bed while sleeping. Changing sides, spreading legs, sliding back and forth, all these sometimes cause the blanket to get removed on its own.
