Why did Volvo recall more than 4 lakh of its cars? A big flaw has come. Volvo Recalls Over 400000 Xc40 Models For Camera Software Flaw

Swedish car company Volvo is recalling more than 4 lakh vehicles in the US due to a software glitch in the rearview camera. This mainly affects the 2021-2025 XC40 models.

sweden Volvo Cars, a luxury car manufacturing company, has decided to recall more than 4 lakh vehicles in the US due to a technical fault in the rearview camera system. America’s road safety agency NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) has confirmed this. According to NHTSA, this recall involves a total of 413,151 vehicles. Most of these are Volvo XC40 models manufactured between 2021 and 2025.

Due to a malfunction of the rearview camera in vehicles affected by this problem, the driver cannot see clearly behind when reversing. Since the function of the rearview camera is to prevent accidents while parking and reversing, this problem is directly related to safety.

Volvo has clarified that to fix this problem, a free software update will be provided at the dealership or new software will be installed through OTA (over-the-air) update. No charge will be taken from customers for this. This is the second time these vehicles are being recalled for the same problem. Volvo said the same model was recalled in the same market in May 2025. Now, a new, additional software issue has emerged that is causing the same problem. According to the company, the reason for the second recall is different from the first one, but its effect is the same.

Volvo says that a new solution software is being prepared for all the faulty vehicles. This update will be released via OTA in the coming weeks.
