BHU Varanasi Clash: What suddenly happened in BHU late at night that there was fierce stone pelting between students and security personnel? How did more than 100 people get injured? Was this just a student dispute or the beginning of a bigger conspiracy? After all, what spark turned violence into fire?
Varanasi. Such a dispute broke out in Kashi Hindu University (BHU) late on Tuesday night that it took hours for the police and security personnel to control it. Suddenly a scuffle, fighting and then stone pelting started between the students and security personnel on the campus. Within no time the situation went out of control and chaos spread in the entire area from LD Guest House intersection to the hostels. The incident was so big that police from about three police stations, staff from 10 posts and four PAC trucks had to be deployed on the spot.
So far, more than 100 people are said to be injured in this fight, which includes 50 students, 40 security personnel and more than 10 policemen. The condition of many students is critical and they have been admitted to the trauma center. Bricks and stones were found scattered on the road for half a kilometer and more than 10 pots, chairs and vehicles were broken. Two big posters of Tamil Sangamam bearing “Vanakkam Kasi” were also torn down.

BHU Clash: Why did such a big uproar happen? What is the real reason?
Everyone from the students to the administration is asking this question as to why such a violent situation arose in the BHU campus. According to some students, it started when a vehicle hit a girl student near Rajaram Hostel. An argument broke out between the students who came to complain and the driver of the vehicle. But the Proctorial Board claims that the initial controversy was something else. According to officials, some masked students were already beating a youth when the security personnel caught them and handed them over to the Proctorial Board. After this, a large number of students came out of the hostels and attacked the security personnel.

BHU Stone Pelting Mystery: How did stone pelting start suddenly?
According to the protesting students, when demands were being made to provide justice to the injured students, the atmosphere suddenly became heated. A peaceful protest was going on outside the Vice Chancellor’s residence, but within minutes heavy stone pelting started. Angry students broke the decorative pots kept at the LD Guest House intersection and created a ruckus, chasing each other. For about three hours the police and PAC kept chasing the students towards the hostels. It is being said that there were incidents of provocation from both the sides, due to which the fire flared up further.

BHU Security Lapse: Had the security system failed on the campus?
Stone pelting and violence on such a large scale has raised many questions on the security system of BHU. Chief Proctor Prof. Shiv Prakash Singh says that no formal complaint has been received from any party yet, but the CCTV footage is being investigated. Police are also finding out who started the violence and how the crowd gathered so quickly.

Tension continues in BHU – what was the real spark of the chaos?
Why such a ruckus happened in a peaceful and prestigious university like BHU, still remains a mystery. The creation of such an atmosphere just a day before the Tamil Sangam program is a matter of concern for the administration.
