Why did NSA Ajit Doval say ‘India is going through a phase of change, there is no need to be afraid’

NSA Ajit Doval said that India is in a period of big change and there is no need to be afraid of it. He described the coups in neighboring countries like Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal as the result of bad governance and stressed on strengthening governance, institutions and laws in India.

NSA Ajit Doval on Regime Changes: India’s National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval said on Friday, October 31 that India is currently going through a major change and there is no need to be afraid of it. Speaking at an event in Delhi, Doval referred to recent coups in neighboring countries and said such unconstitutional changes of power in Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal and other countries were the result of “bad governance” there. He further said that India will have to further strengthen its institutions and laws to ensure good governance and protect national interests during this transition period.

The rise and fall of democracy depends on the nature of governance.

Emphasizing on the importance of strong and accountable leadership, Doval said, “Whether a country is strong or weak, ultimately the strength of its government determines its stability. When governments become weak or selfish, the results are clearly visible. Governments run through institutions and the people who create and nurture these institutions are the most important for nation building. The rise and fall of empires, monarchies or democracies depends on the nature of their governance.

It is necessary to realize Sardar Patel’s vision

Calling for reestablishing national unity, NSA Doval said, “The role of the government in ensuring the country’s security and achieving its goals is extremely important in the process of nation building. As we move ahead in 2025, it is very important to re-realise the vision of Sardar Patel. His foresight is needed now more than ever.”

There is no need to be afraid or bow down to possible challenges.

Doval further said, India is not only witnessing administrative changes, but is also experiencing changes in its governance model, socio-economic structure and its position in the global system. He further said, “The world is also going through a period of big change. The most important thing in any change is not to be afraid of possible challenges nor to succumb to them. We have to prepare ourselves and adapt accordingly and make ourselves stronger. Governments have to think outside the traditional expectations and work in the same direction.

It is necessary to make policies people-centric

Urging reforms in governance, Doval said India’s laws, policies and administrative systems need to evolve to become more people-centric. Our policies and plans should be as per the expectations of the people. Along with meeting the basic needs of the people, it is also important to provide them a sense of security.”
