Rohini Kalam Death: The sports world is mourning the suspicious death of Madhya Pradesh’s jiu-jitsu player Rohini Kalam. Rohini, who won the bronze medal in Abu Dhabi, allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself. The family has accused the school management of mental harassment.
Dewas (Madhya Pradesh). The death of jiu-jitsu player Rohini Kalam, who brought glory to India at the international level, has shocked the entire sports world. On Sunday, Rohini’s body was found hanging in her own house. In the initial investigation, the case is being described as suicide, but the family has alleged that they were being mentally harassed by the school administration.
According to the police, Rohini’s father, mother and sister were all outside the house at the time of the incident. Father is a retired employee from Bank Note Press. When sister Roshni returned home, she found Rohini hanging in the room. As soon as information about the incident was received, the police reached the spot and the body was sent for post-mortem. At present no suicide note has been found.
Won bronze medal at international level
Rohini Kalam had made India proud by winning the bronze medal in the 8th Asian Jiu-Jitsu Championship held in Abu Dhabi. She was not only a player but was also working as a martial arts coach in the school. Police investigation revealed that she was under work-related mental stress for some time.

“The school principal was harassing me” – sister’s allegation
According to NDTV report, Rohini’s sister Roshni told that her sister had recently come to Dewas after taking a few days leave from her school in Ashta (MP).
“She was upset for the last few days. She told that the school faculty and the principal were mentally harassing her. It was clear from her voice on the phone that she was under deep stress,” — said Roshni.
Everyday morning became the last morning
On Sunday morning, Rohini had tea and breakfast as usual, then talked to someone on the phone and went to the room. After this, when the family members had gone to the temple, he took this dreadful step.
Dream of becoming IPS and preparation for ‘Vikram Award’
Rohini’s father told that his daughter’s dream was to become an IPS officer. Also, she was working hard towards getting Vikram Award for the last two years. But work pressure, social stress from rejecting marriage proposals and physical discomfort after a recent surgery had left her mentally broken.
Investigation continues, post mortem report awaited
At present, the police have registered a case under sections of suicide and started investigation. Police say that “In the initial investigation there are indications of suicide, but all aspects will be investigated based on the statement of the family and call details.”
