Patna: After the brilliant performance in the Bihar Assembly elections 2025, the Bharatiya Janata Party took a big leadership decision and elected Samrat Chaudhary as the leader of the legislative party and Vijay Kumar Sinha as the deputy leader. With this it became clear that BJP will give the responsibility of Deputy Chief Minister to both the leaders during this tenure also. This decision of BJP is not just a formality but is very important because of many political equations. Taking over the NDA government from January 2024, Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Sinha not only maintained better coordination with CM Nitish Kumar but also played an important role in ensuring the stability of the government. Samrat Chaudhary comes from the Kushwaha community, which plays a decisive role in the OBC politics of Bihar. Samrat, son of former minister Shakuni Chaudhary, made his presence felt in politics by winning the elections in 1999-2000. After joining BJP in 2017, he quickly emerged as the aggressive face of the party.
Became Bihar BJP President in 2023 and Deputy Chief Minister in January 2024. His Kushwaha background provides great support to BJP’s OBC support base. This is the reason why this time also BJP expressed confidence in him and decided to retain him on the post of Deputy CM.
Bhumihar equation
Vijay Kumar Sinha is among those leaders of BJP who continuously fought against the Lalu-Rabri regime and strengthened the party organization on the ground. Sinha, who has been winning elections from Lakhisarai since 2005, has always made headlines for his aggressive style—especially during his tenure as Assembly Speaker (2020–2022).
He comes from the Bhumihar caste, which is considered to be the strongest vote bank of the BJP. This caste equation is also at the center of his decision to become Deputy Chief Minister again. Also, he is considered a trustworthy face of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the central leadership.
