Ranveer Singh has once again proved his mettle on the silver screen with the movie Dhurandhar. Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani has made a strong comeback two years after its release. The actor stunned everyone with his incredible transformation, and left a deep impression with his never-before-seen avatar as an undercover agent. However, with the craze for Dhurandhar increasing every day, an old interview of Sandeep Reddy Vanga is going viral online. In which he had described Ranveer as the first choice for Kabir Singh (2019). This was the film which made Shahid Kapoor a favorite for Toxic Movie. The director revealed that Ranveer found the film ‘too dark’. After his rejection, Kabir Singh was offered to Shahid Kapoor.
In an interview with iDream Media, Sandeep Reddy Vanga talked about his first movie (as a Bollywood director) Kabir Singh, which was a remake of his Telugu film Arjun Reddy (2017). The filmmaker told, “I was constantly getting calls from Mumbai to do the remake. First it was offered to Ranveer Singh. I wanted to do this film with him. But finally he decided that he would not do this film because it was too dark for him at that time.”
Talking about Shahid Kapoor, Sandeep said, “Shahid’s track record was very tense. None of his solo films had collected ₹100 crore till then, his highest grossing film was ₹65 crore. People used to say that even Telugu films make ₹55 crore, ₹65 crore. ‘Why are you doing this film with this guy? If it was Ranveer, the box office collection would have been higher’. But I always felt that Shahid But I had faith, he is a brilliant actor.”
Netizens are giving a surprised reaction to Ranveer Singh being cast in Kabir Singh. Many users said that it was good that Ranveer did not do the Kabir Singh movie, it seems that Shahid Kapoor was the best for that role.
