Story of Dronagiri Mountain related to Ramayana
During the Ramayana period, when Ravana’s son Meghnad used Brahmastra on Lakshman, Lakshman became unconscious. Ram ji drowned in grief and then Vibhishana advised that Lakshman could be treated by Susan Vaidya. The doctor said that to revive him, Sanjeevani herb is needed, which is found on Dronagiri mountain.
Hanuman ji set out towards Dronagiri mountain without any delay. But on reaching there, he had difficulty in identifying which Sanjeevani herb was. In such a situation, instead of searching for Sanjeevani, he lifted the entire mountain and took it to Lanka.
Why did the people of Dronagiri get angry?
People of Dronagiri village believe that Hanuman ji lifted a part of the mountain without taking the permission of the village goddess. This was considered an insult to the village and the deity. Since then the villagers broke all their relations with Hanuman ji. People here neither take the name of Hanuman ji nor worship him for generations.

However, it is also true that the people of Dronagiri village worship Lord Ram with full devotion. Especially on the occasion of Ram Navami, big events are organized here, but even in this festival Hanuman ji is not worshipped.

Every year in the month of June, Dronagiri mountain festival is organized here. At this time, local people worship the mountain and devotees from far and wide come to participate in it. The people here consider Dronagiri mountain as a deity and do special worship of it.
How to reach Dronagiri?
If you want to go to Dronagiri village then first reach Rishikesh, Haridwar or Dehradun. From there you can reach Joshimath by taking bus or taxi. After this you will have to take a car till Jumma village. There is a trekking route of about 8 kilometers from Jumma, after completing which you will reach Dronagiri village.
