Why are Indian standards important for heart diseases? Experts told the big reason

There are many diseases in India for which treatment is still based on foreign standards. To detect the disease, tests are also done according to foreign standards. Indian doctors have started research on the fact that there should be an Indian scale for it. Dr. Mohit Gutpa, senior in the cardiology department of GB Pant Hospital, Delhi, in a special conversation with TV9 Bharatvarsh, said that there are many things in India which are directly affecting heart disease, whereas this is not the case in foreign countries. In such a situation, it is important that Indian standards are fixed for this.

What are the problems with foreign standards?

Dr. Mohit said that if we talk about foreign parameters, about 80 percent of the patients were considered low risk on the basis of these parameters, whereas among Indians, if seen according to those parameters, they were high risk. In such a situation, it was found that there is a lapse in prevention from the public’s point of view. This is why there is a need to re-evaluate such standards. In such a situation, it is important that the parameters set for heart diseases should also be made according to the people of India. If India has its own parameters, it will help a lot in timely identification and treatment of diseases among the people here.

What is foreign standard?

If we talk about foreign parameters, most of the models mainly depend on them which include things like age, LDL (bad cholesterol). At the same time, Indian patients may develop the disease at a younger age and at lower LDL levels, but the disease is systematically underestimated in Indians by foreign standards. In such a situation, the disease is not identified on time.

These things are being ignored

Dr. Mohit said that South Asian people also have problems with insulin resistance, lipoprotein(a), ApoB, obesity, socio-economic stress, and kidney disease. Indian parameters should also be made on the basis of all these things. There is a need to include the diet of Indians and the risk factors of diseases. Which can help in identifying the disease at the right time.
