Right Hand Blessings Meaning: Greetings and blessings have special significance in Sanatan Hindu culture. Saluting gurus, elders and saints is a symbol of humility and this practice has been going on since time immemorial. The process of receiving his blessings begins with the obeisance. It is believed that with this complete blessing, the obstacles and worries of our work and daily life are removed and all the work is completed auspiciously. Many people ask why this blessing is usually given with the right hand only. The answer to this question has been given by renowned astrologer Dr. Basavaraj Guruji.
According to Guruji, when the body is divided into two parts, the right part is called Sun side and the left side is called Moon side. The right hand is related to the Sun side. Using the right hand while giving blessings provides many positive benefits.
Pingala Nadi is connected to the right side
He said that in our tradition the right hand is given special importance. The right hand is often used for auspicious activities like eating food, offering flowers to God, applying Vibhuti or Kumkum and performing Aarti of God. It is not just a tradition, but it has deep spiritual and scientific dimensions. There are subtle nerves called Ida and Pingala in our body. Of these, Pingala Nadi is connected to the right side of the body. The left side of the brain controls the right side of the body, while the right side of the brain controls the left side of the body.
Guruji said that it is said that any work done with the right hand is helpful in generating positive emotions, hence by blessing with the right hand, the person giving the blessing also gets strength and the person receiving the blessing also gets auspiciousness.
What to do if you don’t have your right hand?
He said that sometimes a situation may arise when there is a need to bless a person who does not have or has lost his right hand. In such cases, even if the blessing is given with the left hand, it has the same effect as a blessing given with the right hand. This is because it is believed that one hand has the power of both hands. When both hands are healthy, it is more appropriate to use the right hand. Guruji has advised that by giving blessings with the right hand one attains the element and power of the Sun.
