India defeated New Zealand in a must-win contest of the Women’s World Cup 2025, by a comprehensive margin of 53 runs. They have thus managed to survive a scare and qualify for the semi-final of the prestigious competition, becoming the fourth team to do so in this tournament.
After three back-to-back losses against South Africa, Australia and England, Team India were in danger of being knocked out, but they came back strongly to become the fourth team to seal their place in the semi-final. Now, all eyes will be on who they would face in the final four stages of the tournament.
India are currently on the fourth spot of the points table with 6 points from 6 games. Even if they win their final game of the tournament against Bangladesh, they will be on 8 points, which will be lesser than the top three teams of the tournament in Australia, South Africa and England. Hence, they will finish fourth regardless of the result in the final match.

India will thus face the side that finishes on the top of the Women’s World Cup points table. If things stand as theu are now, then India will take on Australia in the first semi-final.
However, Australia face South Africa in their final group stahe match of the Women’s World Cup 2025. While Australia are on 11 points, South Africa are on 10. Hence, whoever wins that match will gain two points and guarantee a top-placed finish ahead of the semi-final.
If South Africa manage to beat Australia in this match then India will face them in the semi-final.

India are scheduled to play the first of the two semi-finals of the Women’s World Cup 2025. This will take place on October 29 (Thursday) at the Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Cricket Stadium in Guwahati.
