New Delhi: A Mumbai woman, who shouted at Maharashtra Minister Girish Mahajan for allegedly blocking traffic, is now facing a complaint. The complaint has reportedly been filed by a woman identified as Zen Sadavarte, who is said to be a lawyer.
The shouting incident took place in Mumbai few days back when BJP leaders were taking out a march against Opposition for allegedly blocking Delimitation Bill which was later meant to provide Women reservation in Parliament. Sadavarte in her complaint alleged that the woman allegedly disrupted the march and abused the protesters.
So who is Zen Sadavarte?
Zen Sadavarte is the daughter of renowned Maharashtra lawyer Gunaratna Sadavarte, who is reportedly close to the BJP. Zen filed filed a written complaint against the woman at the Worli Police Station.
Zen is recipient of bravery award
Zen was 12-year-old when she won the National Bravery Award by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for exemplery courage when she saved the lives of 10 people after a building caught fire in Mumbai in 2018.
Zen’s letter to CJI over Shaheen Bagh protest
Zena also hit the headlines when she wrote a letter to the then Chief Justice of India SA Bobde in 2019. In her letter, Zen highlighted that the participation of children and infants at protest venues was tantamount to torture and cruelty.
Her letter came in the backdrop of death of an infant at Shaheen Bagh protest site against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in New Delhi. The infant died efter he caught cold when his parents brought him to the protest site.
The letter by Zen to CJI had sought inquiry into the death of the child as well as guidelines for bringing children to protest sites.
How the issue escalated?
The entire issue was triggered when a woman confronted Maharashtra Minister Girish Mahajan due to the traffic congestion caused by the BJP march against defeat of Women’s reservation bill.
