There was a battle of ‘numbers’ versus ‘influence’ in the Bihar election 2025 campaign. Tejashwi Yadav won the title of ‘Rally King’ by conducting a record 181 rallies. At the same time, NDA emphasized on targeted campaigning with 16 big meetings of PM Modi.
Patna: The campaign for Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 has ended, and now all eyes are on the results of November 14. But the election campaign data paints an interesting picture: This was an election battle of ‘quantity’ versus ‘quality’. On one hand, young leaders set a record for the number of rallies, while on the other hand, veterans emphasized on small but impactful meetings.
Rally King: Tejashwi Yadav (181)
In this electoral battle, Rashtriya Janata Dal’s youth leader Tejashwi Yadav left everyone behind and won the title of ‘Rally King’. He addressed a record more than 181 election meetings. This activism shows that the grand alliance relied heavily on the personal grassroots connections of the chief ministerial candidate, rather than on star power.
Tejashwi’s associate VIP chief Mukesh Sahni also showed his strength by holding 161 rallies. The number of rallies attended by these two young leaders is more than any top NDA leader individually.
Chirag left CM Nitish behind
In the NDA camp, LJP (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan left his mark. He held around 90 public meetings, which is 6 more than the 84 meetings held by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. This figure clearly shows the growing stature of Chirag in Bihar politics.
Which leader held how many meetings in Bihar elections 2025?
- Tejashwi Yadav (RJD) – 181 (Rally King)
- Mukesh Sahni (VIP) – 161
- Chirag Paswan (LJP-R) – 90
- Nitish Kumar (JDU) – 84
- Narendra Modi (BJP) – 16
PM Modi and NDA’s strategy
NDA adopted the strategy of ‘targeted’ campaign. Using his star power, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a total of 16 public meetings. Despite being small in numbers, each of his rallies was successful in drawing large crowds and delivering a national message among the voters.
Apart from PM Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah held 36 meetings, UP CM Yogi Adityanath held 31, and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh held 20 meetings. This collective strategy of the NDA was a combination of the influence of big national leaders and the grassroots hold of state leaders.
Final Question: Numbers or Impact?
This is the first time in Bihar elections that regional youth leaders have given such a big competition to the national stalwarts in terms of the number of rallies. Now the final question is: Will the ‘quantity’ (number) of Tejashwi Yadav’s 181 rallies outweigh the ‘quality’ (impact) of PM Modi’s 16 mega rallies? The answer to this question will be available only after the counting of votes on November 14.
