West Bengal Assembly Election BJP CM Face: Before the West Bengal Assembly elections, BJP has made it clear that the party will not declare the face of the Chief Minister. State President Samik Bhattacharya said that the elections will be fought in the name of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s development agenda.

The political atmosphere regarding the next assembly elections in West Bengal is gradually becoming heated. Meanwhile, there was continuous speculation about the chief ministerial face of the Bharatiya Janata Party. But now the party has made it clear that at present no leader will be declared the chief ministerial candidate. BJP state unit president Samik Bhattacharya has said that the party will seek votes in the elections by keeping Narendra Modi and his development agenda at the forefront.

BJP’s focus is not on ‘face’ but on development agenda.

Bhattacharya said in an interview that it is not necessary for the BJP to declare the chief ministerial face before the elections. The party believes that the public takes decisions on the basis of development and policies. He said that BJP has already contested elections in many states without declaring a chief ministerial face and has won. This time too the party will go among the people keeping Modi’s development model in front.

Bhattacharya described the upcoming assembly elections as a direct fight against the Trinamool Congress and Mamata Banerjee’s government. He says that the people in the state are angry over issues like law and order, violence and appeasement politics. BJP will contest elections on these issues.

Chief Minister face will be decided later

The BJP state president clearly said that the final decision regarding the post of Chief Minister will be taken by the parliamentary board and central leadership of the party after the elections. He also said that it does not matter whether there is a new or old leader in the party. Whichever leader enjoys strong support among the public can lead in the future.

What was said about Shubhendu Adhikari

When Bhattacharya was asked a question about Leader of Opposition Subhendu Adhikari, he avoided directly calling him the chief ministerial face. However, he said that BJP’s strategy in areas like Nandigram and Bhawanipur is to directly challenge Trinamool.

What will be the first decisions if you come to power?

The BJP state president also told what would be the party’s priorities if it forms the government in Bengal. He said that after forming the government, the first thing to do is:

  • Law and order will be strengthened in the state
  • Post-election violence will be banned
  • A better environment will be created for investment and industry
  • Strict policy will be implemented against illegal infiltration

According to him, priority will be given to the process of detection, detention and deportation of infiltrators.

Called the election a ‘decisive contest’

Bhattacharya described this election as not just a fight between two parties, but an election that will decide the direction of the state. He said that BJP will go among the people on the issue of development, investment and stable governance in Bengal. He also expressed hope that the elections will be fair and violence free.

Expressed confidence in the Election Commission

The BJP leader said that the party has full confidence in the Election Commission of India. He believes that elections can be conducted peacefully under the supervision of the Commission. He also said that BJP wants to fight the elections democratically and will respect the people’s decision.
