Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL), one of India’s largest FMCG companies, has appointed Priya Nair as its new managing director and CEO, making a big and historic change. She will take charge from 1 August 2025 and replace the current CEO Rohit Java. A new beginning with Priya Nair is being because she will be the first female CEO of the company.
Rohit Java’s tenure was only two years old, which is the shortest tenure of any MD in the history of Hul. After him, the trust with which the company has given the top position to Priya Nair shows his long and impressive career.
Who is Priya Nair?
Priya Nair started her career as a management trainee in HUL in 1995. Since then, he has worked in many major positions in the company’s home care, beauty and personal care and wellbying portfolio. He is currently included in Unilever’s Global Team and is the President of the Beauty and Wellbeing Business Group. The unit handles about 12 billion euros business, including hair care, skincare, health supplements and premium beauty products.
Deep understanding of Indian market
HUL chairman Nitin Paranjpe said that Priya has a great career in Hul and has a deep understanding of the Indian market. We are confident that she will take the company to the next level of performance. Within and outside the company, this change is considered an important step towards promoting women leadership.

Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) is one of India’s largest fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) companies. In FY 2024-25, the company’s turnover was ₹ 60,680 crore, while the market capitalization is more than ₹ 5.69 lakh crore. The company has more than 50 famous brands which are present in more than 20 consumer categories. These include names like Lux, Lifeboy, Surf Excel, Rin, Wheel, Dove, Vaseline, Ponds, Lakme, Clinic Plus, Brook Bond, Horlicks and Kisan.
