In Bihar elections, BJP’s Chhoti Kumari defeated RJD’s superstar Khesari Lal Yadav by 7,600 votes in Chapra seat. This is BJP’s fourth consecutive victory on this seat. This result proved the victory of grassroots politics over stardom.
One of the most exciting and shocking results of Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 has come out from Chhapra Assembly seat. Here, Bhojpuri cinema superstar and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) candidate Khesari Lal Yadav has been defeated by the new face of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Chhoti Kumari. Chhoti Kumari not only won by defeating Khesari Lal Yadav by a margin of 7,600 votes, but also created history for BJP by retaining this seat for the fourth consecutive time.
Stardom Vs grassroots identity
When Khesari Lal Yadav filed nomination from Chapra seat, this seat came into limelight. It was believed that BJP’s grassroots politics would pale in front of his huge stardom and youth appeal. However, the result proved that it is not easy to win in Bihar politics through personal charisma, traditional base and grassroots contact.
margin of victory
Chhoti Kumari defeated Khesari Lal Yadav by a margin of 7,600 votes. Chhapra seat is considered a stronghold of BJP for the last 20 years. Chhoti Kumari got the benefit of the party’s traditional vote bank and strong organization.
Who is Chhoti Kumari?
Chhoti Kumari, who defeated the superstar in Chapra, has suddenly come into national headlines. 35 year old Chhoti Kumari is not new to politics. She has previously been the District Council President and has been active in the field of social service. He is 12th passed and his net worth is around Rs 1.4 crore.
This time BJP has fielded three-time MLA Dr. C.N. By cutting Gupta’s ticket, he placed a bet on Chhoti Kumari, due to which he had to face opposition within the party, despite this he won the seat.
Khesari’s emotional post after defeat
After the defeat, Khesari Lal Yadav shared an emotional post on his social media account ‘X’, in which he accepted the defeat and expressed gratitude towards the public. Khesari Lal Yadav wrote, “Whether in defeat or victory, I am not the least bit afraid, whatever I got on the path of struggle, this too is right… the public was supreme for me then, is still there and will always remain so! The issue arose even then, will arise in the future as well… Jai Bihar!”
This post of Khesari made it clear that despite accepting his defeat, he is indicating that he will remain active in Bihar politics in future. This result has proved that the voters of Bihar give more importance to development, traditional base and political stability rather than star power.
