Surya Pratap Singh Murder Varanasi: The shooting of student Surya Pratap Singh in broad daylight in Varanasi’s UP College created a sensation. Surya Pratap Singh Murder: The broad daylight firing in the famous college of Varanasi has shocked the entire city. After this incident in the college campus, the students are angry and are demanding the arrest of the accused. This case pertains to Uday Pratap College i.e. UP College, where B.Sc student Surya Pratap Singh was shot dead on Friday morning. Police have arrested the main accused, but his accomplice is said to be still absconding.
Who is the absconding accused ‘Anuj Fire’?
According to reports from UP, the name of the second accused the police is searching for in this case is Anuj Thakur. He is also said to be a second year BA student in the same college. Anuj is a resident of Basni in Shivpur area of Varanasi.
He is known as ‘Anuj Fire’ among the college students. According to the police, he is a close friend of the main accused Manjeet Chauhan and was present with him at the time of the incident. Anuj’s name has also been registered in the FIR along with Manjeet. It is alleged that he supported Manjeet during the entire incident and helped in the murder.

Police caught the main accused in 10 hours
After the incident, the police took swift action and arrested the main accused Manjeet Chauhan within about 10 hours. Manjeet was seen staggering while appearing in the court. It is being told that after the incident, he was trying to escape by jumping from the high roof of the college to escape the anger of the students. During this time his leg got seriously injured.
Investigation has also revealed that Manjeet liked to call himself ‘Mafia’. He had used the word ‘mafia’ with his pictures on his social media accounts, especially Instagram.
The fight for supremacy became the reason for the murder.
Initial police investigation has revealed that this incident may be related to the fight for supremacy between two student groups of the college. The deceased student Surya Pratap Singh was a B.Sc. second year student and was originally a resident of Ghazipur. He died on the spot after being shot. After the incident, an atmosphere of tension was created in the college campus and many students started protesting.
Students’ demand: arrest of the accused and compensation
Angered by this incident, students are continuously protesting. He says that absconding accused Anuj Thakur should be arrested as soon as possible. Along with this, the students are also demanding a compensation of Rs 1 crore to the family of the deceased. Police say that many places are being raided in search of the absconding accused and he will be arrested soon.
Security has been increased in the college campus after the incident. Police and administration are keeping an eye on the entire matter so that no further stressful situation is created. At present this matter remains a topic of discussion in entire Varanasi. Students, parents and local people are expressing concern about the increasing violence in colleges. The police say that the entire truth of the incident will be revealed after investigation.
