A video of Vaishali’s strong room has gone viral, in which a pickup van is seen at midnight and CCTV is claimed to be switched off. RJD has made serious allegations calling it an attempt to tamper with EVM. The administration has started investigating the matter.
With the completion of the first phase of voting in the Assembly elections 2025 in Vaishali district and the date of counting of votes (November 14) approaching, serious questions have been raised on the security of the strong room of the district. Hajipur based R.N. A video of the college counting centre, where EVMs of eight assembly constituencies are kept safe, has gone viral on social media. On the basis of this video, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has made very serious allegations on the transparency and security of the electoral process.
Claim of ‘midnight pickup van’ and CCTV switched off in strong room
It is being claimed in the viral video that the CCTV cameras installed outside the strong room, especially the EVM room of Mehnar Assembly, are switching off again and again. The person who made the video has also expressed serious suspicion on the pickup van moving near the strong room at midnight.
Based on this footage, RJD directly attacked the Election Commission. While sharing the video on its official social media handle, the party wrote that by switching off the CCTV, an attempt could be made to tamper with the EVMs and influence the results of counting.

RJD’s explosive attack: ‘Thief Commission’ and ‘Vote Dacoit’
RJD called this incident not a coincidence but a planned disturbance. He used very sharp words while demanding answers from the Election Commission. RJD said, “In the strong room located at Hajipur in Vaishali district, the CCTV cameras of different assemblies are switched off one by one. Pickup vans enter and exit there at midnight. The Election Commission should answer.”
The party went ahead in its statement and linked it to a bigger political conspiracy and termed it ‘vote robbery’. RJD said, “The country’s biggest vote dacoit has been camping in Bihar for many days on the pretext of campaigning. Election Commission officials go to the hotel and report him. A big vote swindler from Delhi comes to Bihar every day and talks nonsense to divert attention… But this time Bihar will teach these two outsider swindlers a tough lesson in every way. These two outsider robbers want to destroy democracy from Bihar, the mother of the Republic. Bihari will never let this happen.”
Mahnar seat sensitivity
This controversy has become even more sensitive regarding the Mehnar assembly seat, from where the state president of Janata Dal United (JDU) is contesting. RJD’s E. Ravindra Singh is in the main contest against him. Questions over the security of the strong room of such a high-profile seat have created a stir in political circles.
Administration started investigation
Following RJD’s allegations, Vaishali District Magistrate Varsha Singh visited the strong room site and investigated the matter. He acknowledged that there were some shortcomings in the security arrangements, but said that this was not a case of political interference. The DM said, “Strict action will be taken against whoever is found guilty in the investigation. No carelessness will be tolerated in the future. At present, the authenticity of this viral video and the truth of the allegations made by RJD are yet to be confirmed. Now all eyes are on what facts the administration brings forward in its investigation and what official action the Election Commission of the country takes on this entire sensitive incident.”
