Who are the 52 candidates included in RJD’s 1st official list? Tejashwi trusts 42% Yadavs

RJD has released the first list of 52 candidates for Bihar elections 2025. Tejashwi Yadav will contest from Raghopur and Khesari Lal Yadav from Chhapra. The caste equation has been balanced with new and old faces in the list.

Patna: Preparations for Bihar Assembly elections 2025 have been fully intensified. Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), the main party of the grand alliance, on Tuesday released its first official candidate list, which includes a total of 52 names. All these candidates have already filed nominations and belong to constituencies of the first and second phase.

The list includes prominent faces like party national president Tejashwi Yadav. This time Tejashwi Yadav is contesting from Raghopur assembly seat of Vaishali district. In Raghopur, he will face BJP’s Satish Yadav, who had defeated Rabri Devi from here in 2010.

RJD has kept the right balance of experienced leaders and new young faces in this list. By fielding candidates from different castes and communities in different districts, the party has tried to send a message that it wants to strengthen its hold in all classes and regions.

The ethnic composition of the candidates included in the list is also worth noting. Of the total 52 candidates, there are 22 candidates from Yadav community, who hold about 42% stake. There are 3 candidates from the Muslim community, while there are a total of 6 candidates from the upper caste community (Bhumihar, Brahmin, Rajput). Apart from this, balanced representation from Dalits, Mahadalits and Other Backward Classes (OBC) has also been ensured.

RJD has also fully fielded its star power. Bhojpuri superstar Khesari Lal Yadav has been made the candidate from Chapra seat, which will strengthen the star appeal of the party. Apart from this, Tejashwi Yadav’s leadership and star power from Raghopur will give a new color to the election strategy.
