While buying AC, if you see only ‘ton’ then you will be cheated, real coolness comes from this point!… – News Himachali News Himachali

In many parts of the country the temperature has crossed 50 degrees. In such a situation, if you are thinking of buying a new air conditioner (AC), then this is the right time. Generally customers choose between 1 ton, 1.5 ton or 2 ton capacity ACs.

But do you know that apart from ton capacity, there is another factor which decides the actual performance and power consumption of AC?

Now this thing must be wondering in your mind that apart from the tonnage and energy star of the AC, what is the factor that decides the cooling and electricity consumption? So let us tell you that the third factor in the cooling of AC is its ‘Cooling Capacity’.

What is cooling capacity?
If we understand in simple words, cooling capacity means how quickly and how effectively the AC can cool the room. It is measured in watts or kilowatts (kW). For example, a 1.5 ton AC can have a cooling capacity of up to 5000W. If a brand does not disclose its figures, then understand that it is hiding important information.

Connection of cooling capacity to electricity bill

If the cooling capacity of an AC is low, it will take more time to cool the room and its compressor will remain on for a longer time. This will also increase electricity consumption. On the other hand, an AC with high cooling capacity like 3500W or 5000W will provide cooling faster and consume less power.

Don’t take a decision just by looking at the ton.

Ton only means the normal capacity of the AC according to the size of that room. But not every 1.5 ton AC performs the same. If two 1.5 ton ACs have a cooling capacity of one 3600W and the other 5000W, then the output of both will be quite different.

Keep these things in mind while purchasing. See the specification sheet of the brand.
Be sure to check the cooling capacity in watts.
