All India Trinamool Congress on Sunday launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). This reaction of TMC has come in response to the statement of BJP leader Sanjay Das, in which he called Mamata Banerjee a witch and talked about beheading her.

What did BJP leader Sanjay Das say
In the video, Sanjay Das says, “This old witch is ruling West Bengal. Her head should be cut off with a sword.” Sanjay Das is the Vice-President of Mathurapur unit of BJP in South 24 Parganas district. Former state president of the party Dilip Ghosh was also present in this program. In the video, other BJP leaders including Sanjay Das can also be seen gifting a sword to Dilip Ghosh.
TMC’s allegation: promoting anti-women thinking
TMC alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s past statements have normalized anti-women thinking. The party said that when the Prime Minister himself addresses an elected woman Chief Minister as “Didi, O Didi”, it gives BJP leaders the freedom to make such statements.
Appeal for violence against a democratically elected Chief Minister
TMC alleged that at the BJP’s ‘Parivartan Sabha’, Mathurapur organizational district vice-president Sanjay Das presented a sword to Dilip Ghosh. He called Mamata Banerjee a “witch” and talked about beheading her on an open platform. The party called it a call for public assassination against the democratically elected woman Chief Minister.
