Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath flagged off 1000 quintal wheat seed aid vehicles for the flood affected farmers of Punjab. Disease-resistant seeds will give new strength to Punjab’s agriculture, UP government sets an example of cooperation and compassion.
Lucknow. While the entire country is immersed in lights and celebrations on the occasion of Diwali, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has made the festival a “festival of service and cooperation”. On Tuesday, he flagged off 1000 quintal wheat seed aid vehicles from his official residence to help the flood affected farmers of Punjab. CM Yogi said “The real joy of the festival is only when we stand to help a victim.”
“Farmers are not alone, UP government is with them in every disaster”
Chief Minister Yogi said that the farmers of Punjab are not alone in this difficult time. The double engine government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Government of India and the Government of Uttar Pradesh is standing with every disaster victim. He said that at every level of relief material, economic support and rehabilitation, the government is committed to making the farmers empowered, self-reliant and prosperous.
Punjab’s fields destroyed due to heavy rains, seed stores also destroyed
CM Yogi said that due to heavy rains and floods in Punjab this year, not only the life was affected, but the seed stores of the farmers were also destroyed, due to which the next crops are in danger. In such a situation, this initiative of Uttar Pradesh government to send two and a half thousand sacks (1000 quintals) of wheat seeds to Punjab is a new hope for the farmers.

“BB-327”: Disease-resistant and nutritious wheat seeds will provide new strength
The Chief Minister said that the seed sent to Punjab is of ‘BB-327’ (Karan Shivani) variety, which is disease-resistant, nutritious and bio-fortified wheat which is ready in just 155 days. This species is capable of giving a yield of up to 80 quintals per hectare. Yogi said that this seed will not only help the farmers, but is also a symbol of the progress and credibility of Uttar Pradesh Seed and Development Corporation.
“Profit of Rs 37 crore, turnover of Rs 148 crore, corporation becomes model of self-reliance”
The Chief Minister said that when the present government took charge, the condition of Uttar Pradesh Seed and Development Corporation was bad, but today the corporation is operating on a dividend of Rs 148 crore and has earned a net profit of Rs 37 crore in just one year. He said, “This is proof that if institutions work with dedication and honesty, they can play a big role in making farmers self-reliant.”
‘Chaudhary Charan Singh Seed Park’ to be built in Lucknow, five other parks also under construction
Yogi said that very soon a “Seed Park” will be established in Lucknow in the memory of former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh ji. Apart from this, five other seed parks will also be established within the state soon. The Chief Minister said that the priority of the government is that the farmers should get quality seeds on time, because if late or substandard seeds are received, there is a possibility of production reduction by 30 to 50 percent.
Uttar Pradesh becomes a state symbol of self-reliance in food grain production
Yogi said that Uttar Pradesh’s share in the total cultivable land of the country is only 11 percent, but the state contributes 21 percent to the total food grain production of the country. This is not only the result of the hard work of the farmers of UP, but is also a proof of the policy efficiency and technological reforms of the government.
Inspiration of service and sacrifice on the birth anniversary of Guru Hargobind Ji Maharaj
The Chief Minister said that along with Diwali, the birth anniversary of Guru Hargobind Ji Maharaj is also being celebrated. He said that Guru Maharaj’s life is a symbol of service, sacrifice and charity.
“Just as lamps were lit on the arrival of Lord Shri Ram to Ayodhya, similarly lamps were lit in Punjab to celebrate the arrival of Guru Hargobind Ji Maharaj,” Yogi said as he extended his hearty greetings to all the citizens of Punjab, including the Annadata farmers, on the occasion.
Chief Minister Yogi’s initiative became an example of humanity and cooperation
When floods wreaked havoc in Punjab and farmers’ fields were submerged, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath set an example of sensitivity and humanity. When the Agriculture Minister of Punjab raised the issue of seed shortage in a program organized in Delhi, the Yogi government immediately decided that 1000 quintals of high quality wheat seeds would be sent free of cost. This step has become an example of cooperation and human unity between states.
