When will the stock market be closed on Dhanteras-Diwali?
This year Dhanteras is on Saturday, 18 October. This day is a regular weekend holiday, so the market will remain closed. At the same time, the stock market will remain closed on 21st October on the occasion of Diwali. Balipratipada is on 22nd October and there will be no trading on this day also. Meaning NSE-BSE will remain closed from Saturday to Tuesday.
When will Muhurta trading happen?
Like every year, this year too Muhurta trading will be organized on the day of Diwali. This is a special session of trading, which is organized on the auspicious occasion of the beginning of the Hindu New Year. The stock market will remain open during Muhurta trading on 21 October 2025. The pre-opening session will run from 1:30 pm to 1:45 pm. Muhurta trading will run for one hour from 1:45 pm to 2:45 pm. At this time investors usually make small investments.
Stock market holidays from October to December
According to the NSE calendar, there are a total of 14 trading holidays in the stock market in the year 2025. Talking about some major holidays, the stock market will remain closed on 21st October for Diwali Lakshmi Puja, 22nd October for Balipratipada, 5th November for Prakash Gurpurab (Shri Guru Nanak Dev Jayanti) and 25th December for Christmas.
