After India’s stunning victory in the final of the Asia Cup 2025, the controversy over the trophy and medals is not taking the name of stopping. The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) did not take any final decision on the issue in a meeting held in Dubai on Tuesday. At the same time, the council has solved the problem in the hands of the boards of five Test countries i.e. India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
Trophy controversy still did not end
Actually, the root of the dispute is after the final match at Dubai International Stadium. India won the Asia Cup title by performing brilliantly, but the Indian players refused to accept the trophy and medal from Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chief Mohsin Naqvi. After which Naqvi himself took the trophy, due to which Team India had to celebrate without a trophy. This incident surprised the cricket world and gave a new height to the tension between the two countries.
In such a situation, the meeting of ACC was now chaired by Mohsin Naqvi, in which Rajiv Shukla and Ashish Shelar from BCCI joined virtually. Apart from the trophy dispute in the meeting, the rest of the agenda such as the election of vice-presidents and the final form of emerging players and the schedule of under-19 tournaments could not be discussed. At the same time, the ACC has ordered BCCI, PCB, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) and Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) to hold a formal offline meeting, so that the trophy dispute can be found as soon as possible.
Mohsin Naqvi made a big demand
Some reports are also claiming that Mohsin Naqvi has clearly stated that if India wants the Asia Cup Trophy, then Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav will have to come to the ACC office and take the trophy from them. That is, Mohsin Naqvi is still adamant to give the trophy himself. However, it seems negligible to happen.
