CLAT 2026 Counseling Date: A big update has come for thousands of students who dream of studying in the country’s renowned National Law Universities (NLUs). As soon as the result of CLAT 2026 is declared, the race for admission has started. Candidates who qualify the exam will now have to directly participate in the counseling process, where seats will be allotted based on their rank. Like every time, this time too there is a lot of curiosity among the students about the counselling, because this process will decide which NLU and which course they will get.
How to login to CLAT 2026 counselling?
When the counseling process starts, candidates will need some important details to enter the portal, which include CLAT 2026 application number, information related to admit card, date of birth. CNLUs will soon release the complete time-table of counselling, after which candidates will be able to fill their choices.
CLAT 2026 counseling will be held in five rounds, every step is important
On the basis of CLAT 2026, National Law Universities will conduct counseling for admission to their five-year integrated UG and PG programmes. Counseling will be held in five rounds. After allotment of seat, every student will have to complete the admission process and deposit the prescribed fee. During counselling, students will have three options – freeze i.e. accept the seat, float i.e. search for a better option and exit i.e. withdrawal from counselling.
CLAT 2026 important details
This examination was conducted on 7 December 2025 at 126 examination centers across the country. A total of 92,000 candidates had registered. Of these, 75,009 appeared in the UG examination and 17,335 in the PG examination. This time 96.01% candidates appeared in the examination. This year, 57% girls, 43% boys and 9 transgender candidates appeared in the exam. Now the real journey of admission has started for the successful candidates of CLAT 2026. Notifications related to counseling will be released soon, so candidates should keep an eye on all the updates. Candidates should take decisions only after understanding the Freeze, Float and Exit options in this year’s counselling, because one mistake can result in losing the seat.
