The Trial Season 2: Kajol is back in the much-anticipated second season of the courtroom drama The Trial Pyaar Kaanoon Dhokha, which will premiere on JioHotstar. The show continues the story of Noyonika Sengupta, a woman who evolves from being a housewife to a determined and sharp lawyer navigating her way through the intense legal world. A quirky new video was released by the makers to announce the second season. The series focuses on Noyonika’s journey as she balances her professional ambitions with her personal life after her husband’s legal troubles push her back into the workforce.
JioHotstar shared the announcement video on social media with the caption, “Back like she never left (because honestly, she didn’t)”. In the announcement video, Kajol amusingly shrugs off the idea of a comeback, and stated that she’s never really been away. The video hints at her powerful return to the show and gives viewers a peek at the drama that awaits in the upcoming season. The web series is slated to hit on JioHotstar on on 19th September 2025.
Meanwhile, the Maa actress spoke about her return reportedly said, “Professionally, it’s been an incredibly enriching year for me. I’ve had the chance to explore different characters and stories, but Noyonika holds a special place in my heart.” She added, “From being the underdog in the first season to becoming confident in the courtroom, I’ve truly enjoyed getting back into her shoes. I can’t wait for audiences to see what we’ve created this season it’s been a real labour of love.”

The Trial is based on the popular American legal drama The Good Wife, which aired between 2009 and 2016. The original web series starred Julianna Margulies and was created by Robert and Michelle King. Ridley Scott and other notable names were also involved in its production. The Indian version is directed by Umesh Bist and produced by Banijay Asia. Alongside Kajol, the ensemble cast includes Jisshu Sengupta, Sonali Kulkarni, Sheeba Chadha, Alyy Khan, Kubbra Sait, Gaurav Pandey, and Karanvir Sharma.
