As soon as the results of the Civil Services Examination 2025 of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) came, there was happiness at some places and disappointment at others. But, among those who achieved success, there are many people whose stories make us feel proud.
One such name is Vimal Kumar. Vimal Kumar, resident of Chandemau, a small village in Rae Bareli, has brought glory to his family and the region by securing 107th rank. Father Ramdev works as a laborer at a kiln, while mother is a housewife. Both the parents are illiterate. But, today his son made him hold his head high with pride. Vimal has achieved this success with his hard work and intelligence. When success was achieved after continuous efforts, there was happiness in the family.
Vimal Kumar has one brother Pushpendra Kumar and another brother Ajit (Golu). Two sisters Meera and Aarti are married. The family has only one bigha of land. In such a situation, Vimal Kumar’s success in the Civil Services Examination is commendable. He got this success in the fifth attempt. In the fourth attempt, he was left behind by 12 marks after the interview.
He did his primary education from the village school itself. After this, he got selected in Navodaya Vidyalaya, from where he studied till high school. After getting a scholarship from Dakshina Foundation, he went to Kerala to study Intermediate from Jawahar Navodaya. Did B.Tech from IIT Delhi. After this he started preparing for civil services. There is an atmosphere of happiness in the family due to the success achieved by Vimal Kumar and there is an influx of people congratulating him.
Mother could not understand – what is IAS?
Vimal, who got 107th rank in UPSC, told that when his result came, his mother could not understand. He said, Mother! I became an IAS…, then mother Sinyavati kept looking at his face for some time. Seeing his mother like this, he again said, I have become an officer, mother. Hearing this, the mother’s face lit up and she hugged her son with moist eyes. This is the first time someone in the family has studied so much.
He says, ‘Father is a farmer and mother is a housewife. Still he wanted his son to do something big. The transformer installed near the house in the village often got burnt. It took several days to get it right. This caused a lot of trouble. Therefore came to Bhagidari Bhawan Gomti Nagar and started preparations. Got 107 All India rank for the fifth time.

Vipin Dev Yadav from another farmer family has also achieved success and has secured 316th rank. Vipin of Ambedkar Nagar says – Along with preparation, I also kept teaching more than 150 candidates of UPPCS Main Examination 2024 for a year at Bhagidari Bhawan in Gomti Nagar. Rishabh Yadav, resident of Subhash Nagar, has secured 132nd rank in the Civil Services Examination. He got this success in the second attempt. His father Narendra Kumar Yadav is a teacher at Gayatri Inter College, Rustampur in the same district, who is originally from Kanpur.
