Bollywood actors Govinda and Sunita Ahuja have been in the spotlight over reports of trouble in their marriage. However, there was a time when Sunita had described Govinda as “a very good husband” and said she felt fortunate to have him as her life partner.
During their appearance on the popular chat show Rendezvous with Simi Garewal, veteran actress and host Simi Garewal asked Sunita what she considered the best thing about being married to Govinda.
“Basically, he is a very good man. He never lies,” Sunita had replied.
As Govinda laughed at her response, Sunita teased him, saying, “Don’t laugh, otherwise I am going to speak the truth.”
When Simi asked whether Sunita was not being truthful, she clarified that she was only pulling Govinda’s leg. Praising him as a husband, she added, “He is a very good husband, I am not lying, and I am very lucky to have a husband like him.”
The couple’s relationship has since faced public scrutiny. Sunita filed for divorce at the Bandra Family Court in December 2024. According to reports, the court subsequently ordered counselling sessions, although Govinda was reluctant to attend them.
Sunita recently also criticised Govinda publicly over his alleged relationship with newcomer Komal Rani Swarnkar. In response, Govinda shared a video on social media warning Sunita to be mindful of her language.
On August 19 this year, Sunita withdrew her divorce petition. Confirming the development, Govinda’s manager Shashi Sinha told IANS, “The petition Sunita ji had filed in the court earlier; she had gone to withdraw it.”
Govinda has also issued a public notice warning netizens, media institutions, digital platforms and content creators against publishing or sharing any false, defamatory, malicious, fabricated or unverified material concerning him or his family.
The actor warned that those found responsible could face claims of up to ₹100 crore.
