10 rules of Shiva worship
1. According to the rules, Shivlinga is never completely circumambulated, hence the Jaladhari should never be crossed. Therefore, only half parikrama of Shivalinga should be done, this also gives full results of worship.
2. Don’t forget to offer turmeric, kumkum, henna etc. to Mahadev because all these are feminine things which are not used in Shiva worship.
3. According to scholars, Tulsi should not be used in the worship of Mahadev. This creates blame.

4. Ketaki flower should also not be offered to Mahadev. Mahadev himself has told this in Shivpuran.
5. If the picture of Shivling or Mahadev gets broken then it should not be worshipped, it is appropriate to immerse it in water.
6. One should not worship Lord Shiva without taking bath or during menstruation.
7. Do not worship Lord Shiva wearing black clothes. If possible, wear white clothes while worshiping Mahadev.

9. Bilva leaves are mainly offered in the worship of Lord Shiva. Keep in mind that these Bilva leaves should not be cut or torn. If the Bilva Patra is clean then it can be washed and offered to Lord Shiva again.
10. It is written in Shivpuran that offering rice to Lord Shiva brings financial gain. But keep in mind that this rice should not be broken.
