London : England’s great fast bowler James Anderson admitted that he feels strange to see his name on the trophy with Sachin Tendulkar and also said that having his name with one of the world’s greatest cricketers is a great honor.
England and Wales Cricket Board has named the Test series between India and England and named the Anderson Tendulkar Trophy.
Earlier it was named Pataudi Trophy which was named after former India captain Iftikhar Ali Khan Pataudi and his son Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi. Anderson said, “It is not necessarily how big the trophy is in your name, but it is also important that Sachin Tendulkar’s name is with your name, which is one of the greatest cricketers for me so far.”
He said, ‘I look very strange when I see his name with me on the trophy. I respect him a lot. I have seen him since childhood and played against him. He has been such a great cricketer who has taken the burden of the expectations of the entire country in his entire career. It is a great honor to share something like this with them. Tendulkar has played 200 and Anderson has played 188 Tests. Anderson, who said goodbye to cricket last year, took 704 wickets.
