We all know that Lord Vishnu had incarnated in the form of Shri Krishna in Dwapara Yuga. But very few people know that the death of Lord Shri Krishna was the result of a single deceit of his Ramavatar. According to mythology, the reason for the death of Shri Krishna was the defeat of the Kauravas in the Mahabharata war. When Yudhishthira was being crowned after the death of Duryodhana in the Mahabharata war that lasted for eighteen days, Mother Gandhari, saddened by the death of her hundred sons, cursed Shri Krishna by blaming him for the Mahabharata war. Just as the dynasty of Kauravas has been destroyed, in the same way your dynasty will also be destroyed.
Destruction of Yaduvanshis
In the Mausal Parva of Mahabharata, there is a description of Lord Krishna leaving his human form. According to the story narrated in this festival, Krishna died 35 years after the Mahabharata war. Thirty-five years later, the curse of Mother Gandhari had started showing its effects on the city of Dwarka. Sensing the effect of Gandhari’s curse, Shri Krishna came to the area with the Yaduvanshis from Dwarka. Coming to Prabhas area, Krishna donated food to the Brahmins and told the Yaduvanshis to wait for death. A few days after Prabhas’ stay in the area, there was a dispute between Satyaki and Kritavarma while discussing the Mahabharata war.
Satyaki got angry and beheaded Kritavarma. Due to this, mutual war broke out among them and they divided into groups and started killing each other. In this battle, all the Yaduvanshi including Shri Krishna’s son Pradyumna and friend Satyaki were killed, only Babru and Daruk were left.
Balram’s death
After the destruction of the Yadu dynasty, Krishna’s elder brother Balram sat on the seashore and became concentrated in God. In this way Balramji, the incarnation of Sheshnag, left his body and returned to his original abode. One day after Balram ji left his body, Shri Krishna was lying in meditation under the Peepal tree, when a fowler named Jara came to that area. Jara was a hunter and he wanted to hunt deer.
From a distance, Jara saw the sole of Shri Krishna similar to the face of a deer. Without thinking, the fowler released an arrow from there which hit the soles of Shri Krishna. When he came closer, he saw that he had shot the arrow at the feet of Shri Krishna. After this he felt very remorseful and started apologizing. Then Shri Krishna said to the shepherd, don’t be afraid, you have not done anything wrong. This is the result of my actions in my previous birth.
story of past life
Krishna told Jara that during the time of my Ramavatar, you used to be King Bali, whom I had killed by hiding under the cover of a tree. Therefore, I have chosen the cause of my death in this birth in the same way. That’s why you have done the work of my heart. Therefore, with my permission, you will attain heaven. After Jara’s departure, Shri Krishna’s charioteer Daruk reached there. Seeing Daruk, Shri Krishna said that he should go to Dwarka and tell everyone that the entire Yadu dynasty has been destroyed and Krishna along with Balram has also returned to Swadham. Therefore, everyone should leave Dwarka, because this city is now going to be submerged in water. After this, all the gods and celestial nymphs, Yakshas, Kinnars, Gandharvas etc. reached that place and worshiped Shri Krishna. After the worship, Shri Krishna closed his eyes and returned physically to his Vaikuntha abode.
