The biggest surrender program so far was organized in Bastar, Chhattisgarh under the ‘Naxal eradication policy’ of the state government. 210 Naxalites laid down their arms in this program held in the Reserve Police Line of Bastar division. Those who surrendered include 110 women and 98 men.

Many top commanders are also included in these Naxalites. Describing this occasion as a historic and decisive day, Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai said-

“This is a moment of pride not just for Chhattisgarh but for the entire country. When such a large number of Naxalites are holding the Constitution instead of guns, it is a proof of India’s democratic strength.”

Renunciation of violence by taking oath of the Constitution:

Before surrender, Naxalites took out a parade and raised slogans of “Samvidhan Hamara Marg”. Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai announced that the surrendered Naxalites will be given an opportunity to live a dignified life under skill development training and rehabilitation schemes.

Political reaction on surrender:

BJP leader Amit Malviya termed the surrender as a “historic moment” and said—

“Today Naxalites have surrendered with 153 weapons. Abujhmad has been liberated, Red Terror has been wiped out from North Bastar. Now only South Bastar is left. This is a new dawn for Bastar.”
